Just Another Week…

Here’s just a peek at some of the goings on with the 3H Crew!

We have been learning about sound in science. Here we are conducting an ear drum experiment. Do you know why the salt is bouncing up and down?

In math we have been learning about the attributes of polygons. We like doing “desk math”.

We celebrate kindness by writing kind acts on slips of paper. The “Kindness Chain Caretakers” add these slips to a kindness chain in our room.

During our 3H News Break, our host leads the class in a Power Pix review. The host chooses one word from each Power Pix grid, so the class reviews important math, reading, and writing vocabulary words daily.

  1. I’m curious – what kinds of attributes of polygons have you been studying? Do circles have these same attributes??

  2. Kai says, “Polygons have straight sides and are closed shapes.”
Emily says, “Some of the attributes polygons have are parallel sides, congruent sides, and square corners (right angles).”
Tom says, “Some polygons like a square and rectangle have all square corners.”
Madison says, “Not all polygons have 4 sides. A triangle has only 3 sides.”
Cameron says, “A polygon can’t have less than 2 sides because if it had less than 2, it couldn’t be a closed shape.”
Caroline says, “A parallelogram has opposite sides that are the same length and are parallel.”
Aidan says, “A circle is a closed shape like a polygon, but it does not have any straight sides.”
Tuesday says, “A circle is a 2D shape just like a polygon.”
